The concentrations of the
contaminants in the grab sample were either below MCLS or only slightly above MCLS. In our
abundant experience; contaminant concentrations detected in grab samples are nearly always higher
than concentrations detected in monitoring wells constructed at the same location. If these compounds
are a result of a release from the UST, concentrations should be at their maximum levels beneath the
former source area(given the recent tank removal). A single monitoring well constructed in the former
tankpit should be capable of establishing the maximum concentrations in any plume originating from
the UST. We expect that these will be below MCLs and that further definition of the extent of the
plume may be unnecessary.
Moreover, information on groundwater flow is available from the adjacent Circle K.site where at least
` T four morutonng wells e"x st The wellhead elevation of the onsite well can be-tied to those at the Circle
K site and groundwater elevation data coordinated with information from Circle K.
i
We recommend the installation of a single monitoring well at this time: We also recommend
- assembling information on current and historical business practices at the adjacent Kelly's Carwash,
nsauto/reports/weltrespAr
{i
