ASSOCIATES WEISS RS M6
1 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of the soil boring and well installation performed in
January 1991 by Weiss Associates (WA) at the Diamond Walnut Growers (DWG) walnut
processing plant at 1050 South Diamond Street in Stockton, California (Figure 1) The
' objectives of this investigation were to determine the extent of process chemicals in soil
beneath three underground storage vaults at the site, to determine whether ground water was
' impacted by these chemicals, and to determine the ground water flow direction and gradient
1 1 SCOPE OF WORK
IWA's scope of work included
1) Preparing a site Health and Safety plan
2) Investigating the current depth-to-water in the nearby municipal wells and in any
other accessible nearby wells
3) Drilling one one angle boring and one vertical soil boring adjacent to each of Vaults
1, 6 and 8 and collecting soil samples for hydrogeologic description and possible
chemical analysis
4) Installing ground water monitoring wells in the vertical borings, developing the
wells, and collecting water samples for chemical analysis
1, 5) Surveying the top-of-casing elevations of the monitoring wells and determining the
ground water flow direction and gradient
6) Analyzing the soil and ground water samples for compounds formerly stored in the
vaults, and
7) Reporting the investigation results
The site background and the results of each of these tasks are discussed below
i
D lALL1331DWG1331R1MA1 WP Page 1
