4
3.2 Laboratory Analyses
The soil samples collected from beneath the fuel dispensers (labeled D1 through D9) and product
piping(labeled P1 through P5)were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons modified for diesel
(TPH-d) in general accordance with EPA Method 8015M. In addition, the soil samples collected
from beneath the fuel dispensers and product piping were analyzed for benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, total xylenes (BTEX) and fuel oxygenates in general accordance with EPA Method
8260B.
Selectedsoilsamplescollectedfrombeneaththefueldispensers(D4throughD6)andproductpiping
(PI through P4)were also analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons modified for gasoline(TPH-g)
in general accordance with EPA Method No. 8015M.
The soil sample collected from beneath the oil dispenser (01) was analyzed for total recoverable
petroleum hydrocarbons (TRPH) in general accordance with EPA Method No.418.1. Soil sample
01 was also analyzed for BTEX and fuel oxygenates in general accordance with EPA Method
8260B.
3.3 Soil Sample Results
TPH-d was detected in soil samples D2, D5, D8 and D9 at concentrations ranging from 220
milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg)to 2,300 mg/kg. Soil samples D2,D5 and D8 were collected from
beneath the center fuel dispensing island. Soil sample D9 was collected from beneath the western
' dispenser on the southern island.
TPH-g was detected only in soil sample D5 at a concentration of 28 mg/kg. The remaining soil
samples analyzed for TPH-g(134,D6,and P 1 through P4)did not contain concentrations of TPH-g.
BTEX and fuel oxygenates were not detected in soil samples collected as part of this investigation
with the exception of D5 and D9 which contained concentrations of total xylenes of 0.78 mg/kg and
1.3 mg/kg,respectively.
' Soil sample laboratory analytical results have been summarized in Table 1. Soil samples were
analyzed by Baseline On-Site Analysis, a State-certified hazardous waste testing laboratory based
' in Huntington Beach, California. The laboratory and quality control reports, along with chain-of-
custody documentation, are provided in Appendix A.
' FREY
