A number of topics were discussed and the following is an
attempt to summarize the meeting.
A copy of the PHS/EHD letter dated July 23, 1992 will be sent certified to the estate of Eugene Hiett.
3
An extension for the soil remediation plan was granted until September 15, 1992 to allow rebidding on a
scaled down proposal which would allow future expansions. The proposals received included scopes of
work that were prohibitively expensive. The proposals included two remediation alternatives, vapor
extraction and re-excavation. Since the existing building is not on a foundation, re-excavation is not
viewed as a feasible alternative. Soil remediation proposals will consist of vapor extraction.
The next quarterly report will be due August 31, 1992 and will include the results of the July 9, 1992
sampling. Quarterly sampling may be reduced to afford soil remediation which should reduce the source
of groundwater contamination. All wells are to be measured quarterly to determine ground water
elevations and gradient. Monitoring well, MW1,will continue to be sampled quarterly due to its proximity
to the on site domestic well. After receipt of the July 9, 1992 sampling results, the sampling frequency of
MW2 and MW3 will be evaluated.
If you have any questions or disagree with the meeting summary, please contact Mary Meays, REHS, of my
staff at (209) 468-0337.
Jogi Khanna, .D., M.P.H.
Health O r
Laurie A.
