Ruiz in <br /> compliance to receive SB 2004--Underground Storage Tank <br /> Cleanup Fund--money. <br /> The Ruiz ' s have spent in excess of $10, 000 . Quarterly <br /> monitoring was conducted in April and July. The July results <br /> are not complete yet, but should be submitted to the San <br /> Joaquin County Environmental Health Department by <br /> August 31 , 1992 . 1 <br /> Because the cost to begin the remediation is close to <br /> triple the amount of the. Ruiz ' s annual earnings, it was <br /> agreed that the frequency of testing in wells #2 and #3 may <br /> be re-evaluated, provided the results of the July testing <br /> show little or no contamination in those wells. Well #1 will <br /> continue to be monitored for petroleum. <br /> A vapor extraction system appears to be the most <br /> propitious method for remediating the contamination. <br /> Unfortunately, this method is very expensive. In order to <br /> expedite the remediation without overwhelming the Ruiz ' s <br /> financially, a new request for bids will be issued. <br /> Meanwhile, a letter will be sent to the current bidders <br /> requesting scaled down bids. This will allow the Ruiz ' s to <br /> complete the remediation at an affordable pace. The final <br />
