4 . Soil samples will be collected during drilling at a minimum
of five foot intervals starting at five feet below grade for
field characterization. Two soil samples from above the water
table in the boring will be laboratory analyzed for benzene,
toluene, and xylene (BTX) and total purgeable (volatile)
petroleum hydrocarbons (TVH) . All sampling and analysis will be
conducted in accordance with standard EPA protocol . A State
Certified Laboratory will be used to perform the analyses, as
required by law. All excavated soils will be placed on plastic
sheeting and remain on site until the laboratory test results are
received . A proposal for treatment or disposal of the excavated
material will be prepared after reviewing the soil sample
results .
5. Groundwater level will be monitored to determine depth.
6 . A water sample will be collected from the monitoring well
after purging a minimum of four well volumes (casing and sand
pack ) . The purged water will remain on site, in secured 55
gallon drums, until laboratory results are received . If
necessary, a proposal for the disposal of the water produced
during well development will be prepared after reviewing the
sample results . Water samples will be analyzed by a State
Certified Laboratory for BTX and TVH.
7 . A brief report will be prepared summarizing the findings of
the investigation and recommending further site characterization
or remedial action, if appropriate . The field investigations
will be conducted under the direct supervision of Russell Juncal,
a California registered geologist (no . 3864 ) who will also review
and sign the summary report .
A completed permit for the monitoring well installations and a
$35. 00 check to cover the filing fee are attached . In addition,
a copy of this proposal has been forwarded to the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board, as per your request .
If you have any questions regarding our proposed investigation or
require additional information, please contact me at our
Sacramento office .
Respectfully,
terWork
Russell W. Juncal
CA Registered Geologist No . 3864
RWJ:ect
Attachment
cc Stella Ruiz
Gordon Boggs, CRWQCD - Central Valley Region
