The report also included the
results of the October 19, 1995 and the January 5, 1996 groundwater sampling
events. Feasibility studies including vapor extraction, groundwater extraction and
air sparge were also conducted in December 1995 and the results were
summarized in the report. Finally, the report proposed groundwater extraction and
vapor extraction as the selected remedial alternatives to reduce the contamination
source still remaining in the soil and the groundwater contamination which poses a
threat to the onsite domestic well.
Problem Assessment Report
Only one soil sample was collected during the installation of RW1 at 14.5 feet in
which 20 ppm TPH-diesel was detected. Both underground storage tanks which
were removed in 1989 reportedly contained at one time either regular leaded or
unleaded gasoline. The Pace lab report for the analysis indicated a footnote that
early hydrocarbons were present, possibly representing kerosene or mineral spirits.
The information from the installation of RW 1 was included previously with
Clearwater correspondence dated July 7, 1995; however, discussion within the
correspondence was limited to the proposed feasibility testing. It is unclear
whether this detection of diesel was to infer that there may also be a diesel
contamination problem; regardless, the table summarizing the soil results should
also include a reference to the laboratory footnote.
Free product from MW1 continues periodically, please summarize the storage and
disposal of petroleum recovered.
f
1
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
