23--I& -
CLEARWATE 1 1
G R O U P, 1 N C. j95
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
Ms. Mary Meays July 7, 1995
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Department
P. O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Re: Ruiz Grocery, 4491 Durham Ferry Road, Tracy
Dear Ms. Meays,
This letter responds to your transmittal dated June 14, 1995. Requested
information/clarification is provided in the order of the items listed in your letter.
Page 1, paragraph 4 - "The results of soil sampling conducted during [well]
installation are yet to be reported." As specified in the approved project workplan, a
single soil sample was collected during the installation of RW-1. Results of analysis
of this sample are attached.
Page 2, paragraph 5, and Page 3, paragraph 3 - "The effects of well development must
be evaluated before an alteration of the proposed feasibility [test] may be approved.",
and "PHS/EHD has not noted that there has been a significant problem with
monitoring wells dewatering during purging and sampling activities." The well
development that was completed on Friday, May 19, 1995 consisted of surging and
pumping of the well for approximately six hours. Measurements taken following
the completion of development activity indicated a recharge rate of approximately
0.65 gallon per minute.
Well development/purge logs generated by RESNA during previous field activities
indicate that most site monitoring wells purge dry at a rate of 1-2 gallons per
minute. These occurrences are supported by Clearwater observations recorded
during the first 1995 sampling event. A sustained yield of less than a gallon per
minute would likely be observed, should these wells be subjected to actual testing.
These observations are consistent with those pertaining to the new recovery well
and are considered to be "significant" as related to proposed pilot testing activities.
1125 Atlantic Avenue•Suite 102•Alameda•Califomia•94501 •(510)337-8730•Fax(510)523.0984
