'"C
LEARWATE
G R O U P, I N C. (" JU pt,
Environmental Services ' 03
Mr. Marty Hartzell January 15, 2001
j CVRWQCB
j 3443 Routier Rd., Ste. A
Sacramento, CA 95827
f Re: Production Wells within 2,000-feet of Site
f Ruiz Grocery Store, 4491 West Durham Ferry Rd., Tracy, CA
Dear Mr. Hartzell,
This letter transmits the results and compilation of a search for production wells within 2,000 feet of the
referenced underground storage tank (UST) site. The search was performed at the request of Ms. Lori
Duncan of the San Joaquin County PHS/EHD. The results are submitted in support of a request for
regulatory case closure.
Clearwater requested information from the Department of Water Resources (DWR) regarding all
recorded wells within the search area. The DWR reported a total of 12 production wells (including the
known well on-site) within the requested area. All wells are relatively young (i.e installed in 1984 or
later). Because of their youth, all wells have sanitary seals greater than 50 feet deep and most have seals
of at least 100 feet or more. The nearest production well, other than the one located on-site, is an
irrigation well located approximately 500 feet southwest of the former USTs. A summary of production
wells data is included on Table 1. Interpreted well locations are shown on Figure 1. Copies of well logs
are also attached.
It is unlikely that any of the wells have been adverselyimpacted by the contaminants at the site. This
interpretation is based on the following facts: (1) structural sources (i.e. USTs) were removed in 1988,
' (2) the extent of the contaminant plume was delineated in all direction by,the mid 1990s, (3) over 7,000
lbs of gasoline were removed from the subsurface by soil vapor extraction / air sparging, (4) verification
sampling and monitoring indicate that only a trace amount of gasoline remains following remediation,
and (5) the on-site domestic well, located within 10 feet of the former contaminant plume and
significantly closer than the other production wells, was never impacted throughout the'entire life of
investigation and remediation.
520 Third Street,Suite 104 +Oakland,California 94607 + Telephone 510-893-5160 Fax 510-893-5447
H
