The sand pack will be installed to a level approximately
one to two feet above the slotted screen section where bentonite will be used
-- as a seal. The remaining portion of the annular space will be sealed with a neat
cement and bentonite grout mix according to SJLHD specifications. The top of
the well will be set in a traffic rated box at grade with an internal locking
cover to provide security. SJLHD regulations require that a County Inspector be
on site to observe the placement of the well seals. The County will bill the
Client for the Inspectors time at a rate of $35.00 per hour. This fee is in
addition to the prices listed herein.
- Task 2.4 Well Deyelor)ment
After construction, the well will be developed to improve the hydraulic
conductivity between the well and the natural formation. The development will
consist of manually bailing or mechanically pumping to remove residual silts
and clays left from the drilling operations. At least ten (10) well volumes of
ground-water will be removed. After development, the well will be allowed to
recharge for approximately 24 hours, enabling Exceltech to collect a
reptezentative water sample and to measure the thickness of any floating
product; if present. Any contaminated water resulting from the development of
the wells will be placed in drums. The property owner is responsible for
disposal of any contaminated water. Fxceltech can assist in arranging for
transportation and disposal of any contaminated water on a time and material
cost basis.
Task 2.5 Ground-Water Sampling
Samples of the ground water will be collected from the monitoring wells. The
r sample will be collected with a ^lean bailer and will be transferred to the
appropriate laboratory supplied bottles. Samples will be labeled, logged on
chain of custody forms and placed in an ice chest for transport to a State
Certified laborat.:ry for analysis. If floating product is observed, only the depth
to groundwater eitc the thickness of the floating product will be recorded.
Normal field measurements during ground-water sampling include pH,
conductivity, and water temperature.
--- --------==-------Task-2.6------ rye.,
4. ---- ---- -- -.--- ---- --=-- - -------------- -- --------
For the presentation of the data-:and an accurate determination `of the
g wells and
groundwater flow direction, it is important to locate the monitorin
i
