CEAORWATER <br /> C. R o U P I N C_ <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> 1.1 Purpose and Scope <br /> This report presents the results of recent field activities performed by Clearwater <br /> Group, Inc (Clearwater) at the Ruiz Grocery Store located at 4491 West Durham <br /> Ferry Road in Tracy, California (Figure 1) The tasks performed during this phase of <br /> work included <br /> 0 Drilling and installation of one groundwater recovery well (RW-1) and two air <br /> sparge wells (SW-1 and SW-2), to serve as points for feasibility testing, <br />' 0 Collection and analysis of soil samples to further characterize residual soil <br /> contamination, <br /> 0 Groundwater gauging, well purging and groundwater sample collection for the <br /> fourth quarter 1995 and the first quarter 1996 monitoring event, <br /> 0 Performance of comprehensive feasibility testing, which included an aquifer test, <br /> a dual phase groundwater and soil vapor extraction test, individual soil vapor <br /> extraction tests, and an air sparging test Feasibility tests were conducted to <br /> evaluate the potential for these technologies as remedial alternatives <br /> Well installation and feasibility testing were conducted in accordance with <br /> Clearwater's Workplan for Aquifer, Sparging and Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot <br /> Testing dated March 20, 1995 and the letter amendment to the workplan dated <br /> November 1, 1995 This report also serves as the quarterly groundwater monitoring <br /> report for both the fourth quarter 1995 and first quarter 1996 Quarterly groundwater <br /> monitoring also provided data used in the preparation of the problem assessment <br />' report section of the document All project activities were directed and approved by <br /> the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division <br /> (PHS/EHD) <br /> A comprehensive remedial action plan follows the presentation of feasibility test <br /> results First, potential remedial alternatives are evaluated Based on the <br /> evaluation of alternatives, a final remedial approach is then chosen and described in <br /> detail <br /> 1.2 Site Description and Background <br /> The site is located on an approximately 650- by 700-foot parcel of land at the <br /> northeast corner of West Durham Ferry Road and Bird Road, approximately 7 5 <br /> miles southeast of City of Tracy in San Joaquin County, California The site and <br /> surrounding land is flat and typically unpaved, except areas proximal to buildings <br /> Land use around the site is predominately agricultural, and a canal is located <br /> D-107,PAR/RAP 1 February 21, 1996 <br /> I <br />
