The Code of Federal Regulations, 40 CFR 112, requires that the facility maintain a Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures(SPCC) plan that adheres to the industry standard requirements for regular inspections. The Steel Tank Institute (STI) SP001 Standard requires that the aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) be formally inspected based on the category of the AST. Next Inspection Schedules STI SP001 recommends the interval to the next inspection be determined based on known tank category and volume.This 12,844 gallon tank is currently equipped with a spill control system in the form of a berm secondary containment.The tank has an inherent continuous release detection method (CRDM)in the form of a raised tank on saddle supports. The tank stores Dormant Oil and operates at ambient temperatures. Based on the current configuration, this tank is classified as a Category 2A tank. Per inspection interval definitions outlined in STI SP001, PEI recommends the following inspection schedules. Adhere to one of the following Inspection Options: Inspection Option 1 • Periodic Monthly and Annual AST inspections are to be conducted by owner's inspector. • An external, in-service inspection should be scheduled no more than 10 years from the current inspection date or sooner if a change in tank condition occurs. However, more stringent governing regulatory intervals of inspection may supersede this interval. • An Internal, Out-of-service Inspection should be scheduled no more than 20 years from the current inspection date or sooner if a change in tank condition occurs. However, more stringent governing regulatory intervals of inspection may supersede this interval. OR Inspection Option 2 • Periodic Monthly and Annual AST inspections are to be conducted by owner's inspector. • An external, in-service inspection should be scheduled no more than 5 years from the current inspection date or sooner if a change in tank condition occurs. However, more stringent governing regulatory intervals of inspection may supersede this interval. • A Leak Test as per SPI SP001 should be scheduled no more than 10 years from the current inspection date or sooner if a change in tank condition occurs.
