„ ,- v
1. H.KLEINFELDER &ASSOCIATES
j.^ File: 24-2045-2/29:795
December 33, 1986
Page 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The following is a work plan to perform a second phase soil and ground
water investigation at the A. Teichert and Son, Inc. facility in Stockton,
California. The purpose of the investigation is to assess the lateral and
vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon migration in the soil, and to
assess possible water contamination adjacent to an underground fuel
storage tank as requested by the San Joaquin Local Health District.
2.0 .BACKGROUND
The A. Teichert & Son, Inc. facility is located at 103 North E.
Street, Stockton, California, as shown on Plate No. 1. Soil tested
beneath two removed underground gasoline storage tanks indicated the
presence of gasoline related products at a depth of approximately 16
feet.
On December 9th and 10th, five soil borings were drilled in the area
adjacent to and surrounding the removed tank location. Selected soil
samples were submitted for chemical- analysis from all borings. Total
pet-oleum hydrocarbons were detected at relatively significant
concentrations in boxings B-1 and B-5. The data indicate a storage tank
and/or associated piping has leaked fuel into the adjacent soil.
3.0 SCOPE OF WORK
s. 3._1_ Drilling of Soil Boring
A .series of soil borings will be drilled along lines radiating away
from the underground fuel, storage tank in an attempt to ascertain '-die
vertical and horizontal rAtent of soil contamination. The initial soil
boring for each radial line will be placed at approximately 10 foot
intervals away from the underground tank. Soil samples will be collected
at 5 foot intervals starting at a depth of 10 feet below the ground
surface down.to 5 _`eet above the ground water table (approximately 35 feet
below the ground surface). If the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons is
indicated in the initial soil boring, the next -oil boring will be drilled
10 feet further away from the storage tank along each radial line. The
soil borings will be drilled at 10 foot intervals along each radial line
until a soil boring is drilled in which petroleum hydrocarbons do i.ot
4
