1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report is being submitted at tine request of ran Joaquin County Public Health Department,
Environmental Health Division. It represents the results and findings of a site investigation at
Reeves (ADA 'Dick's') Exxon Station, 2360 Fast Street, Tracy, Calif::rnia (Figure 1).
r-
The property has operated as a gasoline station for 39 years, originally retailing regular gasoline .
and diesel fuel. At the time of our investigation the station retailed extra unleaded fuel (Tank
r
1), regular unleaded (Tank 2), and diesel fuel (Tank 3) from two fuel islands. A 350 gallon
waste oil tank was also located behind the repair shoploffice. The gasoline and diesel fuel tanks
were 5500 gallon capacity. For tank and product line locations see:figure 2.
i
2.0 SITE:HISTORY
In September of 1990 a discrepancy in the inventory of petroleum hydrocarbon product records
for the underground storage tanks (USTs) prompted the owners of the property to contact
WaterWork to begin a site investigation.
In December of 1990, Integrity Testing conducted precision testing of the tanks and product
lines. The extra unleaded tank failed precision testing. The decision to retest the USTs and
product lines was made on the advice of the petroleum hydrocarbon products distributor, who
suspected that product line failure might be the cause of test failure.
In January 1991, Banks & Moore Company ratested the USTs and product lines on site using
a he!ium pressure test. During testing the extra unleaded tank deveioped a leak and. lost an
estimated 300 gallons of prodact into the tank pit-, A verbal report of the leak.was made to San /
Joaquin County Public Heald Department, Environmental Health Division, and the tank was
emptied of all remaining product the same day. Precision and 'Helium test results are included
. in Appendix I.
ppeo.wr ;
