This fabric separates the native soils bellow the fabric,
from the imported sails abo,r t fob
ric. The imparted fill material consists predominantly
of sandy silt with some loo* Or"Unts of clay. The native soils below the fill material
consists of highly organic peat and clay.
' Labortory Testest lescttts
No visible or olfacto. ry evid f contamination was observed, no contamination was
indicated by the orgonic in any of the soil samples, sidew:alls or bottoms of the
excavations or in the stockpiled.soil. Analytical results of soil samples collected from the
excavations and the stockpiled s0if did not detect any total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as
diesel or benzene, toluene, x e e, or ethyl benzene (STX&E). Neither TPH or STX&E was
detected in a water sample coftecifed from the bottom of the tank excavation. A summary of
analytical results is included as Table 1.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the findings of this investigation, all diesel contaminated soils associated with the
former diesel underground storage tank have been removed and replaced with clean soils.
Ground water encountered at 4 roximately 13.8feet betovgrade was found to contain non-
detectable concentrations df TAH a0d bk)(&E. Previous soil and g ot}r►d water contamination
encountered on the site:was likely the result of asphalt debris present in the fill material used
to construct the building pad.
' RECOMMENDATIONS
We recommend this site be issued a closure letter by Satz Joaquin County Environmental
Health Division based on the results of this investigation.
a,0e{
LIMITATIONS
The above conclusions are based on our assessment of conditions indicated to exist as of the
kyyqq;"
dates of our field investigation, April 9-12, 1990.
