Site Code: 1557
Dear Mr. Infirm:
On behalf of the King Island Resort, ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this letter requesting
permission to spread soil cuttings generated during recent drilling activities at the site located at 11530
West Eight Mile Road in Stockton, California (Figure 1). As you are aware, drilling activities
conducted at the site in April and May of this year generated approximately 40 cubic yards of soil
cuttings, most of which are presently stored in two 20 cubic yard roll-off containers at the site. Ms.
Sheri Keys, General Manager of Westrec Marinas at the King Island Resort, has requested the soil
cuttings be used to fill low lying areas of the site. The desired area for placement of the soil cuttings is
shown on Figure 2.
A total of 28 soil samples were collected from the boreholes of recently installed monitoring wells l
MW8 through MW14 and submitted for laboratory analyses of gasoline and diesel range organics
by EPA Method 8015M; and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, nnethyl tertiary butyl ether
(MTBE), ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPS), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA),
tertiary amyl ether (TAME), 1 ,2-dichloroethane ( 1 ,2-DCA), and 1 ,2-dibromoethane (EDB) by EPA
Method 8260B . A summary of soil data is provided in the attached table along with the laboratory
analytical reports.
In addition to the roll-off bins, there are sixty-two 55-gallon drunns stored at the site that contain either
soil cuttings, rinsate, drilling fluid, grout, or purged groundwater. Soil cuttings from MW11 and
MW12 fill 12 drums (six each), and soil cuttings from MW 14 are containerized in four drums. All of
the drummed materials will be transported to ail off-site facility for disposal. Consequently, the
drummed soil cuttings are not proposed to be spread at the site.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in 14 of the 28 samples analyzed by the laboratory. The
concentrations detected in these samples are relatively low. Based on tine amount of soil
1 ATC Associates Inc.
I
