Mr. David Johnson - 2 - 13 July 2010
Herman and Helen's Marina f '
monitoring. Neither sampling plan, however, included a list of metals or a methodology for
determining baseline concentrations of the metals. Central Valley Water Board staff discussed
the omission and proposed a metals sampling plan in email correspondences to AGE on
6 and 7 July, respectively. AGE accepted the suggested sampling plan and stated that it
would be incorporated into an addendum to the Revised Work Plan.
The Revised Work Plan Addendum was submitted by email on 8 July. It provides for
monitoring for bromide, bromate, trivalent and hexavalent chromium (Cr III and Cr VI), total
chromium, and vanadium. Baseline concentrations for these parameters will be determined
from a one-time, pre-injection sampling event. Depending on the pre-injection monitoring
results, post-injection monitoring for the metals may exclude Cr VI and bromate and will be
conducted on a monthly basis in select wells.
Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the Revised Work Plan and the Revised Work
Plan Addendum. Please provide monthly reports of the pre- and post injection monitoring so
that the need for implementation of the contingency plan can be evaluated. The Pilot Study
Report is due by 3 January 2011.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, you may contact me at (916) 464-4811 or at
betaylor@waterboards.ca.gov.
BRIAN E.
