DIY <br /> s <br /> 06 February 2004 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 01-0865 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> remediation system be installed and continuously operated in the areas of ground water <br /> contamination by 28 May 2004 Therefore, AGE intends to mstall an on-site multi-media ground <br /> water remediation system for treatment of extracted ground water <br /> Ground water will be extracted from the extraction well utilizing a dedicated, submersible Durham <br /> Geo pump and at pumping rates between 2 and 5 gallons per minute(GPM)for a total discharge rate <br /> of up to 5 GPM From the extraction wells, ground water will be routed to an on-site treatment <br /> system The first stage of treatment will consist of two 1,000-pound granular activated carbon(GAC) <br /> absorption vessels designed to absorb TPH-g,BTEX and fuel additives,including MTBE, a second <br /> treatment stage will remove MTBE via absorbtion in a 1,000-pound SunSolve vessel, the final stage <br /> will utilize a 1,000-pound GAC vessel to ensure that all petroleum hydrocarbon products have been <br /> removed Sample ports will be located between all treatment units to allow detection of media break- <br /> through and to obtain final discharge samples <br /> Following treatment, clean water will be discharged utilizing 2-inch diameter PVC underground <br /> piping into the agriculture drainage ditch immediately east ofthe marina,the drainage ditch is owned <br /> by Henry and Vivian Rurup The water from the drainage ditch drams into the north side of the <br /> Island Drainage Canal where the water is pumped into the Little Connection Slough via a pumping <br /> station located at the western end of the canal,directly south of the marina The desig*ied flow of the <br /> treatment and disposal system is for 10 GPM <br /> The sampling ports installed on the treatment system will enable the monitonng of the influent Lpre- <br /> treated) and effluent (treated) water from the Herman and Helen's Marma site Prior to any <br /> discharge, an effluent monitoring and sampling program will be pre-approved by the California <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board- Central Valley Region to ensure clean water disposal <br /> To demonstrate compliance with the RWQCB General Order No 5-00-119, Herman and Helen's <br /> Manna will follow the RWQCB's Momtonn.g and Reportirig Program in Attachment B of General <br /> Order No 5-00-119 for Recerving Water Monitoring standards Receiving water monitoring will <br /> include monthly field measurements and observations for the presence or absence of dissolved <br /> oxygen,suspended matter,discoloration,bottom deposits,aquatic hfe,sheen,visible film,fungi and <br /> any potential nuisance conditions Field measurements and observations will be recorded in <br /> notebooks and reported in quarterly reports submitted to the RWQCB <br /> Based on modeling calculations of the Herman and-Helen's Manna subsurface impacted ground <br /> water plume,AGE estimates that discharge into the agriculture drainage ditch would be desired for <br /> approximately 36 to 48 months <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
