HERMAN & HELEN'S MARINA
Venice Island Ferry
Stockton, CA 95219
(209)951-4634
May 10, 1995 0923VTV
onald Rowe, Senior RENS
Site Mitigation Unit MAY 12 1995
Public Health Services ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Environmental Health Division PERMIT/SERVICES
445 N. San Joaquin St.
P. O. Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Dear Mr. Rowe:
Re: 15135 W. Eight Mile Rd. Site Code: 1565
We have written to several consultants requesting that they submit a proposal to us
for the development of a work plan for mitigation of the petroleum contamination at our
marina. We have not yet had any responses, and consequently do not have a work plan
prepared. I want you to know that we are moving ahead, and not ignoring the situation.
We have submitted a copy of your letter to the Board of Trustees of Reclamation
District#2029, the owners of the property, who have orally informed us that they are very
concerned about the possibility of any work occurring in the levee, since that could result
in levee failure destroying all of the farmland on the island. We are expecting a response
from the District's Engineer at any time, which may impact the way in which any
mitigation action is performed.
As soon as we have received the letter from the Reclamation District Engineer and
proposals from consultants for preparation of a work plan, I will call you to discuss what
our next step should be.
Yours very truly,
David M. Smith, President
