Box 388
Stockton,CA 95201-0388
RE: Status Report and Amendment to Work Plan (dated May 27, 1998)and Work Plan Addendum (dated
July 9, 1998),Herman & Helen's Marina,Venice Island Ferry,Stockton,CA
Dear Mr. Rowe:
This Status Report and Amendment to the above:referenced Work Plan and Work Plan Addendum was prepared in
response to your letter dated June 30,2000,titled"Compliance and Characterization". The Work Plan and Work
Plan Addendum were prepared by Condor Earth Technologies,Inc.(Condor) at your request and were, with
modifications, subsequently approved by you. The approved scope of work for the site consisted generally of a
groundwater receptor survey, sampling and analyses of pre-and post-treatment facility drinking water samples, and
additional groundwater investigation in the eastern portion of the site. The additional groundwater investigation
included soil and groundwater sample collection at nine shallow,direct-push borings. Your letter dated June 30,
2000, indicated that vertical groundwater investigation was required in addition to the original scope of work. This
letter is intended to provide a summary of the work completed,to date, and to describe the additional, out-of-scope
vertical groundwater characterization that you requested.
Status Report
Condor conducted a groundwater receptor survey within a 1,000-foot radius of the site in the winter of 1998. The
driving rc coun.-,issance portion of:hc survey in..dimted no reedily identifiable water welts within the study area. In
response to Condor's request for water well information, the Department of Water Resources(DWR)identified one
water well. The water well, however, is at least 2,000 feet southwest of the site. A detailed description of the
groundwater receptor survey results will be provided in a report of findings to be submitted for the MTBE plume
investigation.
On October I, 1998,Condor collected facility pre-and post-drinking water samples. Laboratory analyses indicated
that a low concentration of MTBE was detected in the pre-treatment water sample and low concentrations of
chloroform, bromodichloromethane, and dibromochloromethane were detected in the post-treatment drinking water
sample. A description of the sampling procedures, the sampling locations, and the laboratory analytical results of
the drinking water samples were included in the Report—Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring, Third Quarter, 1998,
dated November 23, 1998 and prepared by Condor.
Amendment to Work Plan and Work Plan Addendum
The original scope of work for MTBE plume definition as proposed in the Work Plan,as modified by the Work
Plan Addendum, and subsequently approved by you included the advancement of nine shallow direct push borings.
ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGICAL ENGINEERING GEOTECHNICAL
hftp:Nwww.00ndorearth.com
