' WORK PLAN-Monitor Well Installation
Heenan&Helen's Marina
May 30, 1997
' Page-5-
dated September 30, 1996). Mr. Ronald Rowe of the PHS/EHD approved the proposal for the
monitor well installation in correspondence to Condor, dated February 6, 1997. The following is a
description of the proposed fieldwork.
3.0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
This section includes a description of the proposed site preparation, monitor well installation, monitor
' well development, well collar survey, groundwater sampling, laboratory analysis, and reporting.
3.1 Site Preparation
Prior to the fieldwork, monitor well drilling permits will be obtained from the PHS/EHD. The
t proposed drilling locations will be marked with white paint and Underground Service Alert (USA) will
be notified at least 72 hours in advance of the fieldwork to locate and identify underground utilities in
and near the work area. The PHS/EHD and the Reclamation District #2029 will be notified of the
' fieldwork schedule at least 48 hours in advance.
' 3.2 Drilling Procedures
The monitor wells (MWl, MW2, MW3, and MW4) will be drilled by Spectrum Exploration of
' Stockton, California (C57 license #512268). A Condor geologist will be on site to supervise the
drilling, soil sampling, and well installation. The proposed monitor well locations are shown on
Figure 3, Appendix A. Prior to commencement of fieldwork, a tailgate safety meeting will be held
' and a site-specific Health and Safety Plan will be discussed with, and presented to, all crew members
for their signatures. A copy of the Health and Safety Plan is contained in Appendix B of this
document.
' The monitor well boreholes will be drilled using 8-inch O.D., continuous-flight, hollow-stem augers to
depths ranging from approximately 9 to 19 feet below the ground surface (bgs). During the previous
' Geoprobe investigation in August, 1996, the depth to groundwater at the site was approximately 15
feet bgs at locations drilled on the levee and 5 feet bgs below the levee.
The augers will be steam cleaned before each borehole is drilled. The soil sampling equipment (i.e.,
split-spoon) will be cleaned prior to collecting each sample. The cleaning procedures will consist of
washing the sampling spoon in a solution of laboratory-grade, non-phosphate detergent and
hydrocarbon-free water, and double-rinsing with hydrocarbon-free water.
tSoil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals using a California-modified, split-spoon sampler
fitted with three clean, brass liners. During the sampling, the split-spoon sampler will be driven ahead
' of the auger. The uppermost liner will be discarded. One sample liner will be used for geological
logging and for field screening using an organic vapor analyzer (OVA) and the bottommost liner will
be prepared, as described below, for possible shipment to the laboratory. The soil samples will be
' logged according to the Unified Soil Classification System. Drilling logs will be prepared and will
Naiio
' L• CONDOR
