Scope of work <br /> The RI includes the following task: <br /> i <br /> Conduct a soil gas survey to determine if leakage from the pipeline can be <br /> documented by this method. Soil gas sampling and analysis will be conducted on- <br /> site by a USPCI-approved subcontractor, Tracer Research Corporation and <br /> supervised by PFS Environmental, Inc., also and approved subcontractor. <br /> 4 Soil sample borings will be drilled with a mobile mounted drill rig:,using the <br /> I <br /> ollow stem auger technique. Soil samples will be collected through the augers <br /> using a continuous, or split spoon sampler. The sampling will be conducted by <br /> PFS Environmental, Inc, 1 <br /> ° Specific Tasks <br /> L Soil Gas Sampling (performed by subcontractor) <br /> 1. Drive a hollow sampling probe into the ground to a "depth of <br />- - approximately'4 ft. below the ground surface (BGS) using a specialized,-- <br /> hydraulic <br /> pecialized•.hydraulic mechanism mounted on the back of a van. 1 <br /> 2. Attach the above-ground end of the sampling probe to a steel reducer and <br /> a length of polyethylene tubing leading to a vacuum pump. ! <br /> 3. Purge two to five liters of air with the vacuum pump. 1 <br /> 4. Collect ten milliliters of soil gas sample into a glass syringe by inserting <br /> a syringe needle through a silicone rubber segment in the evacuation line <br /> and down into the steel probe. , <br /> 5. Analyze the sample using a field gas chromatograph. <br /> { <br /> H. Soil Sampling <br /> 1. Advance borings with a follow-stem auger drill rig. <br /> '3 <br /> 2.
