Three of the four wells; MW-1, MW-3
and MW-4 were abandoned on September 28, 1999. The remaining well, MW-2, was
abandoned on December 29, 1999. All of the wells were abandoned by over-boring methods
under the oversight of the San Joaquin County 'Environmental Health Department (permit
number 020571).
Three, two-inch monitoring wells and one, four-inch monitoring well were abandoned. The
two-inch wells were abandoned. using an eight-inch augur, and the four-inch well was
abandoned using a ten-inch augur. All wells were over-bored to a depth of one foot below
the total depth of the well. Each well was measured prior to over-boring. Once the over-
boring was completed, the borings were backfilled by trimie methods with portland cement
and all soil cuttings were drummed for disposal at the nearest landfill. One composite sample
was collected from the drummed waste and was analyzed for Total lead, Total Petroleum
Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPH-G), and for Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl benzene, and Xylene
(BTEX) by EPA method 8015/8020. A total of nine'drums of soil and four drums of water were
generated during the abandonment operation. Seven drums of soil cuttings have been
disposed of at Vasco Road Landfill and two drums of water have been disposed of at Seaport
Environmental (Attached). The most recent abandonment activities leave two remaining
drums of soil cuttings and two remaining drums of water at the subject property. This waste
is scheduled for removal and proper documentation from the disposal facilities will be
forwarded to your office once received.
