CHRONOLOGY
400 N EL DORADO
LOP SITE CODE: 506606
APN: 139-070-09
04/14/97 Foothill Engineering submitted a work plan(WP)to investigate the site for gasoline contamination
in the areas of three USTs as a result of a property transfer. The site has 3 USTs that were closed
in place with sand in 1967, under the sidewalk on the westside of the facility. Four slant soil
borings would be drilled near/under the USTs closed in place.
05/06/97 EHD received a report prepared by Foothill which contained the results from the soil samples
collected from the 4 borings that were drilled on 4/18.97. Sample PB 1 at 20 feet contained 16200
ppm TPH-gas,49.2 ppm toluene, 308 ppm ethylbenzene, and 1920 ppm xylene.
06/30/97 EHD filed an Unauthorized Release Report and a Prop. 65 for the positive results reported.
09/23/97 The site was placed in the LOP and a Notice of Responsibility was sent to the R.P.s requiring
additional investigation.
10/09/98 QST submitted a WP to perform 2 additional soil borings on the eastside of the 3 USTs. Borings
would be completed to groundwater to collect soil and groundwater grab samples.
06/23/99 QST submitted a report with soil and groundwater results for the 2 borings. All soil results were j
ND,but the water sample(BF-1 at 28 feet)contained gasoline,BTEX,and MTBE in low
concentrations.
F
11/24/99 EHD approved a WP for the installation of 3 Monitoring Wells(MW)to further define the extent
of soil and groundwater contamination. b
i
07/07/00 Orion submitted a report which contained soil results from MW installation and results for 2
groundwater sampling rounds from the 3 on site MWs. One soil sample from MW-1 contained 99
ppb MTBE. Groundwater from MW 1 contained 7.9 ppb MTBE and MW-2 contained 440 ppb
gasoline with trace amounts of ethylbenzene and xylene.
03/07/01 EHD,CVRWQCB,D. Hamlin with Bridgestone/Firestone and H.Takach with Orian met and
discussed the finding from the investigation. It was decided to install an additional data point
downgradient of MW 1 and MW2 to further define the extent of MTBE contamination in
groundwater.
04/04/01 EHD approved a WP to install one additional MW downgradient of the 3 USTs.
06/27/01 Orian submitted a report containing soil and groundwater data from MW4: soil results from
installation and groundwater results for 2 rounds of sampling. MW4 had 2.4 ppb MTBE in the
first round and ND in the confirmation sample. Groundwater contamination is defined with low
level gasoline and MTBE in MW 1 and MW2(TPH-gas 170ppb,MTBE 5 ppb).
08/31/01 EHD began processing this site for closure. A 30 day concurrence letter will be submitted to the
CVRWQCB.
I
