r
Page 2
632 S. EI Dorado Street
The FRP has selected groundwater pump and treat in conjunction with soil vapor extraction.
Four additional EWs are proposed to increase the capture zone, and increase effectiveness of the
groundwater remediation effort. Existing VWs will be used for soil vapor extraction as the vadose
zone depth increases as predicted by AGE. - --- - -- - — -
EHD requests the following information:
1. A demonstration that four additional EWs are required to adequately address the
plume of impacted groundwater, such as a drawing of the site with the locations of
the EWs , the plume of impacted groundwater, the groundwater flow direction,.and
the predicted capture zone of the EWs.
2. Submit a remediation time line with groundwater cleanup goals using groundwater.
pump and treat in conjunction with soil vapor extraction verses groundwater air
sparing with soil vapor extraction.
3. Prepare a cost estimate for the groundwater pump and treat system lin conjunction
with soil vapor extraction including the additional EW installations, maintenance and
operation of the system based upon the remediation time line established.
4. Prepare a cost comparison analysis for groundwater pump and treat in conjunction
with soil vapor extraction verses groundwater air sparing with soil vapor extraction.
The installation of additional vapor and air sparge wells will be required and should
be included in cost analysis.
Please provide the additional information to EHD by September 2, 2002.
If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact Harlin Knoll at(209)468-
3442.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director a
Environmental Health Division
Harlin Knoll, Senior REHS Nuel C.
