REUSE GUIDELINES
ReUse Materials Program Guidelines
AB 2202 Quality Assurance Plan
1) Eligible products for the reuse program include, new or almost new, commercially available
products in their original containers that are in good condition with intact labels.
2) Banned and restricted products are not eligible for the reuse program. A list of banned and
restricted products follows this plan.
3) Product containers must be reasonably clean(no rust, grease, residue); containers should have a
reasonable amount of product remaining to warrant reuse. It is our responsibility to ensure that
the materials are sorted accurately to meet those specifications as well as all applicable
regulations.
4) Products will be segregated to a specially designated cart for consideration for reuse.
5) Staff will periodically analyze the cart to determine which wastes meet the project's reuse
standards. Please see Section 8 of the Health and Safety/Emergency Action Plan—San Joaquin
County Reusable Materials Quality Assurance.
6) The on-site PSC Project or Site Manager will quality check(QC) for banned pesticides or other
prohibited materials and approve the load of reuse materials prior to their removal to the reuse
room.
7) The reuse cart will then be weighed, the weight will be entered on the ReUse cart log, and the
materials will be placed on the shelves in the ReUse room.
8) Any rejected or unwanted products remaining in the ReUse room for extended periods of time
will be returned to the facilities processing area for waste packing and disposal.
9) Prior to removing ReUse materials from the facility all persons must sign the ReUse Material
Acceptance Form.
The selected reuse materials will be placed on a cart and transported to the designated reuse area on a
regular basis throughout the workday. The reuse area is staffed during collection hours and is a
separate room to protect the participants from entering restricted zones. Participants will park in the
designated parking lot and walk to the reuse room in the delineated walkway. Participants are
encouraged to take free materials for use at home upon signing a"waiver of liability" form.
