APPENDIX A
Site Background Information
Former STOCKTON PLATING Facility
632 South El Dorado, Stockton, California
BACKGROUND
The site is located along Scotts Avenue in a relatively flat area of southwest Stockton, immediately
south of Mormon Slough and east of the El Dorado Street overpass Local land use in the vicinity
of the site is industrial and commercial Residential areas are located approximately one-quarter mile
south and east of the site
GROUND WATER DEPTH AND FLOW DIRECTION
Based on a review of the Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater Spring 1998 map published by the
San Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District (FCD&WCD), the
estimated depth to ground water at the site is 45 feet bsg Review of the map Lines of Equal
Elevation of Groundwater Spring 1998(FCD&WCD)indicated that the regional ground water flow
direction in the area to be towards the northwest and west Between May 1995,and the present time,
• depth to ground water at the site has risen from 50 feet bsg to 25 feet bsg, with a general ground
water flow direction towards the east Ground water elevation contour maps for the site have been
included in previous quarterly reports prepared by AGE
Review of previous ground water monitoring at the site and historical depth to ground water maps
(FCD&WCD)dating back to 1971 suggested that ground water depth near the site has been as deep
as 60 feet bsg
UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
AGE has been informed that two underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed from the
property One 1,000-gallon leaded gasoline UST was removed from the site in August 1986 and one
2,000-gallon unleaded gasoline UST was removed from the site in 1990 Petroleum hydrocarbons
were detected in soil samples collected from beneath both USTs at the time of the removals Results
of the UST removals were summarized in reports prepared by American Environmental Management
Corporation(AEMC,6 October 1986)and Condor Earth Technologies,Inc (CET,2 January 1991)
SITE ASSESSMENT/INSTALLATION OF GROUND WATER MONITORING WELLS
Since 1990,a total of eight ground water monitoring wells, multiple soil borings/soil vapor sampling
locations and four soil vapor extraction wells have been installed at the site to develop a hydrologic
model and assess vertical and lateral extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
