(AGE) on April 29, 1999. PHS/EHD has reviewed the report.
Analytical results of the soil samples taken at 20 feet below surface grade(bsg)from Boring#3
(133) were 3,700 parts per million (ppm) of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon as Gasoline (TPH-G),
less than 0.5 ppm of Benzene, 3.0 ppm of Toluene, 41 ppm of Ethyl-benzene, and 120 ppm of
Xylenes (BTEX collectively), and non-detect at 0.17 ppm Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether(MTBE).
Analytical results of the soil samples taken at 40 feet and 45 feet bsg from B3, and at 25 feet and
30 feet bsg from B1, B4, and B5 were all non-detect for TPH-G, BTEX, and MTBE. Analytical
results of the grab water sample taken from B3 were 12,000 parts per billion (ppb) TPH-G, less
than 2 ppb of Benzene and Toluene, 200 ppb of Ethyl-benzene, and 720 ppb of Xylenes.
Analytical results of the grab water sample taken from B1 were 250 ppb of TPH-G, and 32, 1.7,
12, and 6.0 ppb of BTEX, respectively.
PHSIEHD agrees with AGE'S conclusion that the vertical extent of the soil contamination at the
site is defined at this stage of the investigation. PHS/EHD also agrees with AGE'S conclusion that
the horizontal extent of the soil contamination is defined at this time. Field notes taken by
PHS/EHD staff also supports this conclusion.
PHSIEHD agreed with AGE's recommendation to install ground water monitoring wells to assess
the concentration and lateral extent of the contamination. Submit a work plan to Install ground
water monitoring wells to PHS/EHD by August 1, 1999.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeffrey Wong at(209)468-0335.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Jeffrey Wong, REHS Margar Lagono, REHS
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV Supervisor
C' RWQCB, Central Valley Region - Mark List
C.'
