LARRY WILLIAMS
ENV. CONTROL OFFICER II
MUNICIPAL UTILITIES DEPT.
2500 NAVY DRIVE I
STOCKTON, CA. 95206
(209) 9448722
FAX (209) 944-8708
RE: one time dump of ground water produced from installation and
monitoring of wells located at 1448 E1 Dorado Street, Stockton,
Califoria.
Dear Mr. Williams:
As to my conversation today with Frank in your department, I am
enclosing the chemical results of the approximate 800 gallons of
water being stored on site in 17 17H-55 gallon drums. The
laboratory results are of a composite sample taken of these . drums
on April 2, 1991 and is below the detection limits for. EPA methods
5030, TFH and 602, BTEX. We will use the clean out drain at the
site to dispose of this Water after we have recieved permission
from your department.
_ SAMPLING PROCEEDURES
On April 2, 1991, Western Geo-Engineers environmental engineer,
Mr. Chuck Holder, was on site to sign over the manifest to have 4
activated charcoal drums transported to Cameron Yakima for re-
juvination. During this visit, Mr. Holder obtained a composite
sample of the 17 drums containing the.purged ground water from the
on site monitoring wells. The composite sample was obtained by
removing approximately 40 cc ofwater from each drum using a j
steril disposable PVC bailer and placing this water into a clean 5
gallon plastic bucket for compositing. From the approximately 680
cc of water now stored in the plastic bucket, 160 cc was removed
using the disposable bailer used in the initial compositing and
- placed into 4 40cc VOA's with no headspace, capped with teflon-
-septa-caps,---
eflon-
-septa-caps,--labeled,. placed-in-_a_zip-lock_baggie_andrthen_cooled__ T_
to 40F by storage on ice in a cooler. The' sample was .designated
"stored purged water" and chain of custody hand delivered , to
Chemtech Laboratories (DHS#359) for analysis using EPA methods
5030/602 for Total Fuel Hydrocarbons with BTEX. The remaining
water that was composited in .the plastic bucket was then . returned
page
