that exhausts into four 85 gallon activated charcoal tub scrubs.
Sample pert,s will be installed at each well to obtain samplss,
vacuum and temperature readings, at the influent of the blower for
samples, vacuum and temperature monitoring and at the exhaust o
the blower for pressure and temperature monitoring. A sample port
will also be located on the exhaust of the charcoal tub scrubs for
samjles, pressure and temperature readings. The exhaust of the
tub scrubs will be checked on alternate days for breakthrough
using a hand held photoionizing detector (PID) that has been
calibrated to 50 ppm Tsobutylene in air. Once breakthrough occurs
the pilot test will be terminated. At the start up of the test,
influent samples will be obtained from monitor wells P1, P3 and EX
and an effluent sample well be obtained from the exhaust of the
blower and analyzed for total Petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as
gasoline and diesel along with Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and
Xylenes (BTEX) using DHS headspace method Stith FID chromatograph
Western Geo-Engineers (WEGE) . Once breakthrough is indicated by
PTD readings, influent samples will be obtained from the vapor
extraction wells, the influent to the blower and the effluent from
the charcoal tub scrubs and anlayzed for TPH and BTEX by the wEGE
lab. Also an effluent sample will be obtained from the charcoal
tub scrub exhaust prior to shutting the system off and
disconnecting it from the wells (for analysis by Chemtech
Laboratories) . This sample will be analysed using EPA modified
8015 and 602 for TPH and BTEX respectively. Throughout the test
vacuum readings will be obtained from the ground water monitoring
wells, to help establish the radius of influence of V12 vapor
extraction system.
This Pilot test will help evaluate the amount of fuel range
hydrocarbons available and the economics concerning vapor
extraction for soil and ground water remediation at this site, see
Figures 4A manifold for vapor extraction system and 45 schemtaic
for vapor extraction system.
Start un date for Pilot.
