B \TANKPULL DOG
October 9, 1989
Mr John Margowski
Wickland Properties
1765 Challenge Way
Sacramento, California 95815
RE Regal 604 tank and product line excavation sample report
Dear Mr Margowaki
The following is the letter report concerning Western Geo-
Engineers (WEGE) monitoring and sampling of the tank and product
line excavation at Regal Station 604
A WEGE geologist. under the direct supervision of Carol Oz sampled
the tank excavation on 9/29/89 and the product line excavations on
10/5/89. The excavation and tank removal was performed by Tosco
and Country Contractors on 9/26/89. see enclosed report
4 During tank removal the WEGE geologist screened the tanks prior to
their removal with a GASTECH LEL/02 meter under the supervision of
Mr Rod Hiltscher of the Stockton City Fire Dept All tanks were
f visually inspected for any signs of failure (corrosion and
punctures, etc ) none were detected. Prior to the tanks leaving
the site the Tank IDN was sprayed on each tank with red spray
paint.
s During the excavating and tank removal the WEGE geologist also
performed periodic ambient air checks around the site using a HNU
PID Model # PI 101. The ambient air rlong the parameters of the
site never exceeded 2 ppm vapor Next to the excavation ambient
air ranged from 2-5 ppm along the northern edge, 5-100 ppm along
the eastern edge, 2-10 ppm along the western edge and 5-150 ppm
along the southern edge. The HNU was also used to screen the soil
as it was being excavated Soil exibiting minor to moderate
concentrations of vapor were placed in the piles along the
northern boundary of the site (SP? & SK) The soil exibiting
moderate to high concentratins of vapor was place in a pile along
the northeastern corner of the site (SP2) and the soil exibiting
the highest concentrations of vapor was placed in a pile along the
eastern edge of the site (SPI)
On 9/29/89 under the direct supervision of Carol Oz a WEGE
geologist obtained 10 soil samples from the tank excavation, see
Table 1 of this report All samples were gathered at
approximately 0 5 to 1 foot below the existing surface of the
1
•
