All samples will be obtained by a trained geologist working
directly under the supervision of the above mentioned registered
geologist. The samples will be collected, preserved, labeled and
chain of custody hand delivered to ChemTech Analytical
Laboratories, 3017 Kilgore Road #110, Rancho Cordova, CA 95742
(915-635-3962) . ChemTech is a State of California certified lab
(#359) . All soil samples obtained from borings and/or excavtions
will be analyzed using the following EPA and DOHS methods: 5030
for extraction, 8015--TPH, 8020-BTEB, DOHS-TEL and BDB-DOHS-AB
1803. Initial sampling showed that TEL and EDB does not exist at
this site these analyses will not be carried on to the next
samples, see Table 1.
Along with supervising the drilling, the on-site WEGE geologist
will also conduct the health and safety monitoring and provide the
safety plan for this site (health and safety officer) , Appendix A,
and the sample collection and preservation for this site. All
soil excavated during the boring process will be placed on and
covered with a 6 mil polyethylene liner(s) . The borings will be
constructed as vapor recovery/monitoring wells and if ground water
is encountered ground water recovery/monitor wells.
WELL CONSTRUCTION
The wells placed in the borings produced by the Versadrill will be
constructed using Bch 40 P480 PVC. The PVC will be machined
slotted from the total depth of the boring to the 15 foot depth,
0.01" slot. After placement of the PVC casing a sand envelop,
consisting of #1,/20 monterey sand, will be placed from total
depth to the 15 foot depth, (ground water may rise to the 30 foot
depth) the remaining envelop will consist of 1/4" pea gravel from
the 25 foot depth to the 10 foot depth within the excavation,
utilizing the base of the excavation as a vapor extraction well.
The remaining excavation will be backfilled and compacted with the
cleaned excavated soil noted as SP2, SP3 and SP4, once laboratory
results demonstrates that this soil is below the action levels to
gain permission from San Joaquin County Health to place this soil
back into the excavation.
Once the backfilling has taken place the vapor extraction wells
will be manifolded to a common treatment area and tamper proof
traffic boxes placed to secure thew, see figure 3 and table 2 for
well construction details,
PRODUCT LINE TRENCHES
To economically determine the vertical extent of petroleum
contamination associated with the product lines, a 4" diameter
hand auger with sampler and driver will be utilized, see Figure 2.
The holes will be hand augered in five foot intervals, the auger
then will he withdrawn and a sample barrel that c.)nt&ins one 2"x610
sterile brass slcjve will be placed at the base of the hole and
hand driven to obtain a sleeved sample for certified laboratory
s2
