The
laboratory results are of a composite sample taken of these drums
on April 2, 1991 and is below the detection limits for EPA methods
5030, TFH and 502, STEX. We will use the clean out drain at the
site to dispose of this water after we have recxeved permission
from your department.
SAMPLING PROCEEDURES
On April 2, 1991, Western Geo-Engineers environmental engineer,
f Mr. Chuck Holder, was on site to sign over the manifest to have 4
e activated charcoal drums transported to Cameron Yakima for re-
juvination. During this visit, Mr. Holder obtained a composite
sample of the 17 drums containing the purged ground water from the
on site monitoring wells. The composite sample was obtained by
removing approximately 40 cc of water from each drum using a
steril disposable PVC bailer and placing this water into a clean 5
gallon plastic bucket for compositing. From the approximately 680
cc of water now stored in the plastic bucket, 160 cc was removed
using the dieos"la bailer used in the initial compositing and
placed into 4 40cc VOA's with no heatdspace, capped with teflon-
septa caps, labeled, placed in a gip-look baggis and then cooled
to 4'F by storage on ices in a cooler. The sample was designated
"stored purged water" and chain of custody hand delivered to
Chemtech Laboratories (DHS 0359) for analysis using EPA methods
x 5030/602 for Total Fuel Hydrocarbons with HTEX. The remaining
water that was composited in the plastic bucket was then returned
page 1
•
s
