f f
JUL 2 3 1930
ENV1Ru1vMEN AL HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
July 12, 1989 - UST removed along with about 25 CY spoil . Strong
gasoline odor noted, and discolored soil observed at west end of
tank near pump island. Three (3) soil samples taken; one at each
end of the tank and one . about 2' below the tank. Samples delivered
to Canonie labs under Chain-of-Custody. Spoil was returned to hole.
July 31, 1989 - Sample analysis completed; see Table 1 for results.
January 19-23, 1990 - Site re-entered, existing spoil removed, and
an estimated 300 CY of additional spoil was removed, which resulted
in a pit approximately 30 ' long X 19' wide X 21 ' deep. A total of
seven (7) samples were collected, (see Plates IX & X, ) and were
transported under Chain-of-Custody to FGL Environmental Laboratory
for analysis. The spoil was placed on plastic on an asphalt storage
area, and covered with plastic.
February 12, 1990 - FGL Environmental issued laboratory analysis of
the above samples; refer to Table II for test results.
The results of the lab tests showed that the two bottom samples
showed very minor amounts of BTX&E, and no detectable levels of
TPH-G, EDB, or organic lead. The sidewall samples on the northeast,
east, and southeast portions of the pit were clean. The two
sidewall samples on the northwest and southwest end of the
excavation revealed low levels of Toluene, Xylene, and Ethyl
Dibromide. Only the sample on the southwest side of the pit,
(SW-2W, ) showed detectable levels of TPH-G.
June 20, 1990 - Correspondence from EHD requiring a work plan for
borings and/or groundwater monitoring wells.
In order to define the extent and configuration of the plume, we are
submitting the fallowing Workplan for your review. Work will
commence as soon as approval is received from your office.
PROPOSED WORKPLAN:
1. Drill five (5) 41' auger holes to a maximum depth of 40' at the
approximate locations shown on the attached Exhibit A. If it is
logistically feasible, boring No. B-2 will be started from the
bottom of the existing excavation. If that is not possible, it will
be located as close to the side of the pit as passible.
2. Split-spoon soil samples will be taken at 1 ' & 5' , and every 5'
to and including the bottom of the each boring. The lithology will
be described, and samples taken and/or supervised by a Registered
Geologist. Upon completion of this phase of the work, all borings
2
