November 5, 1993
Harlen Knoll, Sr. REHS
San Joaquin Co. Public Health Service
Environmental Health Division
445 No. San Joaquin Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Ref= SOIL & GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION WORKPLAN, 6215 TAM
O'SHANTER DRIVE, STOCKTON, CA_ SITE CODE 1258
Dear Harlen;
I am enclosing a copy of the SAR & workplan for placing two (2)
soil/groundwater test borings as agreed too during a meet-Lng
between Mr. Patrick Riddle, representing Normac and Hammertown
Partners, Peter Voskes of Normac, Inc , and your staff _ One tes{,
boring will be located on Normac property, (APN 094-050--11 , ) and
the other on the adjacent vacant land owned by Hammertown Part-
ners, (APN 094-050-21 ) Plates VII & VIII show uheir approximate
locations, the actual sites may vary slightly
• This workplan replaces the one dated March 10, 1993, which was
not implemented, and has been cancelled The drilling permits
for that work were never approved, and have been returned to my
of f ice
I have attached two (2) new drilling permit applications for
completing the work; (one for each parcel, ) with 2 checks in the
amount of $89 00 each. Osterberg & Stewart will perform the
drilling under my supervision. They have equipment capable of
taking continuous cores as desired, I have used that system on a
similar project and it worked quite well Such a technique will
enable essentially all of the soil to be examined, screened, and
preserved for analysis as needed.
I have not yet determined which type of equipment will be used
for obtaining a discreet water sample The Hydropunch is the
most commonly used due to it' s dependability, and I have used it
successfully on a shallow project in the Tracy area. The
drilling contractors I have contacted are also quite familiar
with its' use. The BAT system, while supposedly more definitive,
is considerably less reliable, and often requires excessive
reruns & rig time in order to obtain the desired result I am
doing some research on that equipment in order to be more
familiar with it. I will discuss this matter with you prior to
starting the project_
•
1
