1 <br /> 1 <br />' Se_arf ace-6" : Sandy loam. <br /> Brownish- b1acE clayey loam, fairly dry, firm, grading <br />' to brownish--gray towards the east end of the pit. <br /> 6 '--bottom: Sandy, clayey silts , buff to tan , with occasional pods <br /> and irregular :shaped inclusions of brownish clay. <br />' <br /> No continous , uniform beds were noted , and the sediments were firm <br /> and well compacted; there was no evidence of slumping or caving. i <br /> Refer to Plate Al for photos of the e fcavati on. <br /> iThe SJLHD representative, Mr . F'nol I , arrived at appro� imately <br /> I : UGPM, and after some discussion , it was zLgreed to tat e a total of <br /> 7 samples-2 from the bottom, and 5 sidewails. Refer to Plates 1X & <br />' X for the approyimate location of the samples. <br /> A Thorpe Cil Co. employee was lowered to the bottom of the <br />' e;ccavation in the backhote bucket. Using properly cleaned and sealed <br /> brass tubes supplied by FGL. Environmental personel , he tool two � <br /> samples at each of the locations indicated by Mr. F nol1 °• Mr. <br /> Hecnter . The sAmples were quic6ly returned tra the sa_ar-face , Properly <br /> 1 seal ed , labeled , and refry Berated. They were transported to the <br /> 1,kboratury under- Chain-of-Custody; (refer to E-hibit H. ) A taint <br /> garsvlone odor was noted in some of the samples , but no free product <br /> was observed. <br /> Composite samples were also tai•.en by FGL Environmental from the <br />' spoil , to assist in evaluating remediation techniques if needed. <br /> Sege Plate 1 1 l for the results of that analysis. The e' cavati on was <br /> securely fenced and the spoil was covered with plastic . <br />' mESULTS OF SANF=LE ANALYSIS <br /> -the results of the laboratory anlysis per-formed on the above samples <br />' f rorn the excavation are tabulated on T a b 1 e 11 . l he tanad ysi s <br /> revealed that the T sidewall samples on the northeast , east , and <br /> southeast side of the pit were clean. Very small amounts of B-rX&E <br /> were measured in the two bottom samples: TRH-G was detected in only <br /> one sample , ( SW-2W. ) Neither Ethylene Dibromidee nor organic lead <br /> were detected at reporting limits in any of the samples. <br /> t However , samples No. SW--?W & SW-3W, (refer- to Plates IX , X ' ) <br /> indicate that contamination has not been removed in th.it area, and <br /> w ll regeeire further cleanup- <br />' Al-.hough the composite same 1 es of the spoil taken on 1/ 19/go showed <br /> detectable levels of BTX&E and TPH-G, EDD was below the reporting <br /> limit of . 010 mg/kq.
