(AGE). The results for these tests are
documented in a Ground Water Pump Test and Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Test Report (report)
dated March 20, 2006 prepared by AGE. This report concludes that SVE is a feasible option for
interim remediation and that GWE is not a feasible option and should not be used. GWE was
found not to be feasible based on the lack of inferred radius of influence and low transmissivity
values, and the sites specific aquifer characteristics . In this report, AGE recommends that dual-
phase (SVE/water extraction) be used as the remediation technology.
EHD has reviewed the boring logs for extraction well EW 1 at this site and EW 1 at 2057 S. El
Dorado. According to the boring logs, the soil lithology and well construction are similar.
Therefore, it may be that at this site EW 1 was not adequately developed and subsequently GWE
did not appear viable. EHD discussed this concern with your consultant on December 1 , 2006
and it was agreed that EW 1 will be redeveloped during January 2007 to further evaluate the use
of GWE as a clean up method. Please submit a description and schedule of the redevelopment of
EW 1 to the EHD by December 22, 2006.
Recommendations in Quarterly Report — Third Quarter 2006 dated November 13, 2006 prepared
by AGE are to conduct additional site assessment to define the lateral and vertical extent of the
hydrocarbon impacted ground water (impacted soil was not mentioned) and to implement interim
soil remediation via SVE. Please submit a workplan for additional site assessment to define the
lateral and vertical extent of impacted groundwater and soil and implementation of SVE by
January 14, 2007.
