(AGE) , on your behalf for the above-referenced site. By
letter dated 12 September 2013, the EHD had approved the submittal of a work plan to install
additional monitoring wells to delineate the lateral extent of the petroleum hydrocarbon plume
that resulted from an unauthorized release from a former underground storage tank system .
In the work plan , AGE proposes:
Advancement of three well borings using 8 .25-inch hollow-stem augers at locations
illustrated on Figure 2 of the work plan;
• Collection of soil samples at five-foot intervals, beginning at five feet bsg, for lithologic
evaluation, field inspection for the presence of volatile organic compounds using an
organic vapor meter equipped with a photo-ionization detector, and chemical analysis of
selected soil samples;
• Installation of three monitoring wells at the three proposed boring locations , screened
between approximately 25 and 45 feet below surface grade (bsg) , dependent on
geologic/hydrogeologic conditions encountered during drilling ;
• Completion of each well using two-inch-diameter Schedule 40 polyvinyl chloride casing
with 0. 020-inch slotted well screens;
• Analysis of groundwater samples collected quarterly from each well for one year, and
selected soil samples collected during the well installations for: total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) ; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes
(BTEX) ; methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) , ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE) , tertiary-
