By letter dated 12 June 2013, the EHD had conditionally approved Additional
Site Assessment Work Plan, dated 22 May 2013, to advance one deep soil boring in the former
underground storage tank (UST) area to assess the petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and
possibly convert the borehole into a monitoring well to assess the vertical extent of impacted
groundwater.
In the report, AGE documented that significant concentrations of contaminants of concern were
detected in all five soil samples collected at 60, 70, 85, 90 and 100 feet below surface grade
(bsg) from borehole B5/MW-1 and groundwater collected from monitoring well MW-1 on 02
August 2013 . Based on these results, AGE has recommended the submittal of a work plan to
install a network of monitoring wells screened within the shallow zone.
The EHD approves the preparation and submittal of a work plan to install additional monitoring
wells, screened within the permeable sand layer identified on soil boring logs for B1 through B4,
to delineate the lateral extent of the petroleum hydrocarbon contaminant plume . Submit the
work plan to the EHD by 15 November 2013.
Continue to collect groundwater quarterly from MW-1 for one year and analyze the samples for
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) ; benzene , toluene, ethylbenzene and total
xylenes (BTEX) ; methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) , ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETRE) , tertiary-
amyl methyl ether (TAME) , di-isopropyl ether (DIPS) , tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), 1 ,2-
dibromoethane (EDB) and 1 ,2-dichloroethane ( 1 , 2-DCA) . After one year collect groundwater
samples from MW-1 semi-annually for laboratory analysis.
