El Dorado St., Stockton, CA
County Site Code: 9401; USTCFP Claim#0417
Dear Ms. Sanborn:
Mr. Jeffery Wong of the SJCPHS-EHD has directed that the abandoned domestic well located at
60 E. Castle Street, Stockton, be video taped and then destroyed. The well has been impacted by
the petroleum release from the subject site. Geological Technics Inc. (GTI) submitted a work
plan to San Joaquin County dated October 13, 2000 describing the work to be performed. The
SJCPHS-EHD subsequently approved this work plan in their November 13, 2000 letter
correspondence.
On November 17, 2000, GTI requested bids from Hennings Bros. Drilling and Water Well
Technologies to video tape the well. Hennings was selected and they mobilized to the site on
January 2, 20001. Unfortunately, even though notification was given, the well was inaccessible
due to the presence of the owners' truck blocking the driveway. The work was rescheduled for
January 4, 2001 and Hennings mobilized to the site again but was unable to complete the work
because the diameter of the well (3.5 inches) was smaller than the smallest camera in Hennings'
possession. GTI subsequently contacted Norcal Geophysical to perform the video and the work
was finally completed on January 16, 2001. Mr. Jeff Wong was on site during the.videotaping
and he directed that the well be destroyed utilizing blast perforations since the well is
inaccessible by drill rig.
.GTI requested a bid from Water Well Technology Inc. for the work and they responded. with a
bid to blast perforate the well. GTI sought to obtain several bids for the work, but we have been
unable to locate any other contractors that perfornz this well destruction specialty.
