' ,eob ua(Technccs Inc • Page 2 <br /> Wor Plan <br /> g <br /> Valentine(Castle Motors) <br /> Project No 723 2 <br /> April 11, 2000 <br /> 2.1 GeoProbelHydropunch Survey <br /> The GeoProbe boreholes will be located as shown in the Site Map (Figure 2) It is proposed <br /> to drill the majority of the borings at the edges of the city streets or through planters in the <br /> sidewalk Encroachment agreements will be obtained from the city prior to drilling The <br /> final locations of the borings may have to be adjusted slightly in the field according to <br /> utilities or accessible points <br /> The boreholes will be drilled with a GeoProbe rig owned and operated by V&W Drilling of <br /> Rio Vista, CA (C574 720904) The GeoProbe advances a coring tool with a pneumatic <br /> hammer to a selected depth Upon reaching that depth, the coring tool is opened and <br /> advanced further to fill the core barrel The soil sample enters an acetate cylinder contained <br /> in the coring tool Upon filling, the coring tool is pulled from the hole and the cylinder is <br /> removed The cylinder is then cut and the selected interval is capped with Teflon foil and <br /> end caps and placed on ice for shipment to the laboratory The remainder is used for <br /> geologic logging <br /> The GeoProbe borings will be advanced to a total depth of 30 feet bgs Soil samples will be <br /> collected at five-foot intervals One soil sample from the capillary fringe of each borehole <br /> will be submitted to the laboratory for analysis <br /> Upon reaching the groundwater, a hydropunch type sampling tool will be driven into the <br /> saturated zone The hydropunch will be pulled back two feet to expose the screen then a <br /> 10 Wattera sampling tube will be used to collect a groundwater sample The samples will be <br /> collected into VOA vials and amber liter bottles The VOA vials are capped, inverted, <br /> tapped, and checked for headspace bubbles The vials and bottles will be labeled and placed <br /> on ace for shipment to the laboratory Clean surgical gloves are worn at all times :n handling <br /> the samples and sampling equipment <br /> 2.2 Soil & Groundwater Sample Analyses <br /> One soil sample from the capillary fringe of each borehole and one groundwater sample from <br /> each borehole will be submitted to Sherwood Laboratories of Hilmar (State Certified <br /> Laboratory #1400) <br /> These samples will be analyzed for <br /> e BTEX using EPA method 8020 with appropriate extraction method <br /> a TPH-G (gasoline) using method 8015 modified with appropriate extraction method <br /> a Oxygenated Fuel Compounds (OFCs) using method 8260 <br />' A Chain of Custody will be completed for all samples collected and tracked to ensure sample <br /> integrity The detection limits for these compounds are listed below <br />' Detection Limits - Ethers <br /> 8020 8015m 8260 8260 <br /> t of (pg/Kg , <br /> iter µg <br />
