Ir
1 .0 INFORMATION
—1
-- This Health and Safety Plan (HASP) describes basic safety requirements for the soil and
groundwater investigation at the California Tank Line, Inc. (Cal-Tank) facility, located at
I 3105 South E1 Dorado Street, in Stockton California (Figures 1 and 2) .
The provisions of the plan apply to the employees of Environeering, Inc. (EI), and the
contractors working on this phase of the project. The contractors may elect to increase
the safety requirements for their work with prior concurrence of EI.
I This HASP describes the expected potential hazards that may be encountered on site. If
_— the site, working conditions or scope of the work for this phase of the project change
before or during the field work, this HASP will be revised by EI in keeping with these
changes.
f I 2.0 SCOPE OF WORK
J
The scope of work for this phase of the project is described in Taber Consultants ' May
31 , 2010 Updated Human Health Risk Assessment, Natural Attenuation Analysis and
Additional Site Investigation Work Plan. In summary, the field work shall include the
completion of the following tasks:
• Advancing, logging and sampling of two (2) soil probes to a depth of 50 feet; and,
• Removal of floating product from MW-2 using special absorbent filled socks.
I
F GENERAL SAFE WORK PRACTICES
I` It is EI' s safety policy to take every reasonable precaution in the performance of work to
protect the environment and the health and safety of its employees, the public, and to
I_
prevent property damage. With respect to hazardous agents, this protection can be
minimized by limiting exposures of people, releases to the environment, and
contamination of property to levels that are as low as reasonably achievable.
It is the intent of this HASP to supply a broad outline for completing investigation and
l remediation activities within acceptable safety standards. It should be clearly understood
that it may not be possible to determine the actual working conditions in advance of the
work. Therefore, planning must allow the opportunity to provide a range of protection
r" I based upon actual working conditions.
u All project work shall be preformed in a manner consistent with providing a safe work
environment.
