K-V Associates, Inc. : KVA Spargepoints Fate t of :
KOMA
Note: Spargepointo is registered trademark # 1 ,917, 152 of K-V Associates, Inc.
jl
KVA Spargepoints® are essential parts in the operation of KVA C-Sparger' Systems. Made of
porous plastic, they are used to introduce microfine air bubbles under low pressure into the saturated
i zone of an aquifer in order to removevolatile organic compounds compounds (VOCs and chlorinated
solvents). This relatively new process in remediation technology is allowing simultaneous stripping of
contaminants from groundwater along with chemical oxidation of these contaminants.
it
The ultraflne bubbles produced by Spargepoints® are diffused into a formation more evenly than the
large bubbles produced by standard well screens. Spargepoint®-produced bubbles have suitable size
for penetrating the interstitial spaces of saturated formations under law fluid pressure. Consequently,
the bubbles become part of the fluid flow and prevent channelization.
A compressor is used for air supply to the , lk $
Spargepoints®, providing adequate pressure and air ,tG
flow to the points in order to overcome back
pressure of the formation. Each of the
lSpargepoints'® is connected to the surface by a
e_ 1 Schedule 40 PVC riser pipe. KVA's Wellhead
Assemblies allow even adjustment of pressure and
c - 1 air flow to individual Spargepoints® across the site.
KVA Spargepoints® are available in diameters of
L--
1/213145 1 , 2, and 4 inches. Lengths yary according
to customer needs. Standard models are generally
I- 18 inches in length.
r
Installation of KVA Spargepoints® is very simple using a hollow stem auger, and a protocol similar to
_ . installation of well screens.
( To find out more about KVA's Sparging processes, visit our Q&A page.
Note: SpargepointO is registered trademark # 1,917, 152 of K-V Associates, Inc.
Spargepoints`` I G-Sparger ,Solrent Removal System Dual-Gas Sparge- Systems
Back to aren
Remediation
KVA 0 About <.VA. 0 Grouudrtater Groundwater & . ,Technical aT
Hume P-Me Monitoring Sod Sampling P.tpers m II
766 Falmouth Rd.
