I
Bank of Stockton - Cutter Lumber Site Page 6
Quarterly Groundwater Monitoring Report
Project No. 102.2
October 20, 2005
i
' 1 3.0 DISCUSSION
' 3.1 Discussion of Data
Field and analytical data results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2 and
' illustrated in Figures 3 through 5.
' The contour map of the groundwater surface (Figure 3) suggests that the flow of
groundwater is to the northeast, and appears generally consistent with
historical norms except for the groundwater mound around MW-7. This is a
' result of the vapor extraction system, which has been applying a vacuum to
MW-7 for the past two months. Excluding the mound, over the past quarter the
groundwater elevation has fallen about 4 feet since the prior monitoring event.
' The hydrocarbon and VOC distribution in the MW-7 sample is noteworthy. The
TPH-G concentration of 240,000 ppb is higher than at any time since the end of
' 2003, which also was abnormally high. At the same time, the BTEX
concentrations are lower than at any time since the well was first sampled in
. 1998. We speculate that the TPH concentration is higher because the vapor
' extraction is accumulated dissolved hydrocarbons to this vicinity, while the
volatiles are being preferentially removed.
3.2 Future Work Schedule
' Quarterly groundwater monitoring will continue. Continuous operation of the
new SVEIAS remedial system will continue.
1
1
' 2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
