Samples of any underlying clay will also be <br /> collected for permeability testing. <br /> _ t <br /> Approximately 100 samples of the contaminated stockpiled soul will <br /> be collected E2 samples for each 50 yards of the estimated 2500 yards <br /> presently stockpiled? to characterize the soil for purposes of <br /> remediation permitting procedures. These samples will be taken <br /> throughout the length of the pile of contaminated soil at a minimum <br /> depth of 1 foot below the surface. Every 10 samples will be composited <br /> to produce a total of 10 samples for analysis. Each composite sample <br /> will represent a different section of the pile as depicted in Figure 2-1. <br /> Drill cuttings will be segregated and stockpiiled along with the <br /> existing stockpiled soil. <br /> All bore holes will be backfilled with a grout mix consisting of sand, <br /> cement, bentonite powder, and clean water in the following ratios: <br /> • One 94 lb sack of Portland cement; <br /> • Two sacks of Lonestar 120 sand; <br /> • 5 Is of bentonite powder;and <br /> • 4.5 to 6.5 gallons of clean water. <br /> Groundwater elevations will be measured in three of the open bore <br /> -- holed"in relation to a permanent on-site reference point. If bore holes <br /> damot not remain open, then water levels Tavill be taken in three of the <br /> rydropunch locations through the hydropunch probe. Water levels <br /> - ---� - will-be-determined using-the-wetted-tape method. Al water levels <br /> will be measured at the same time 24 hours after boring installation. <br /> The water elevations will be used to determine the groundwater <br /> gradient and direction of flow. <br /> 2A - <br />
