ARROW TANK 'FORKS
1701 SOUTH BARNEY STREET
Mailing Address: P.O. Box 563
ANDERSON, CALIFORNIA 96007
PHONE (916) 365-5434
INSTALLATION:
We recommend that our underground tanks be installed with a minimum
cover of two feet of compacted soil, or one foot of soil under a reinforced con-
crete pad of not less than 4" thick. However, in areas where the installed tank
will be subjected to vehicular traffic, they shall be protected by a minimum of
18" of compacted soil plus 6" of reinforced concrete, or 8" of asphalt paving'
extending at least one foot from the tank in all directions, or by a minimum of
three feet of soil. The excavation shall be free of any liquid during the installa-
tion procedure.
The tanks shall be completely empty during installation to prevent any un-
due stress within the tanks. If it is necessary to fill the tanks with product before
backfilling, the product level must not exceed the compacted backfill level.
The tank excavation shall be firm soil suitably graded level, and have 6"
of clean sand or 6" of pea gravel. The tanks shall be encompassed by clean
sand or pea gravel. There shall be no stones or other matter allowed to come
in contact with the tanks.
If the installation site is such that the tanks require a concrete balast slab
and hold down straps, refer to our hold down chart and NFPA pamphlet #30.
Material used for backfill must be capable of being 95% compacted. The
material shall be placed in 6" layers and tamped down. Cradles or chocking
blocks should not be used. They may cause tank failure due to stress
concentrations.
