Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan - March 1999
MARTINI AUTOMOTIVE
4032 North El Dorado Street, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Bob Eustis,Advanced GeoEnvirornmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the enclosed
Work Plan for the site at 4032 North El Dorado Street, Stockton, California. The Work Plan presents
the proposed scope of work to evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon
impacts at the site. The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 - Location Map. A plan of the
site is illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan.
This Work Plan has been prepared as required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) in a Ietter dated 13 January 1999. Additionally, this
work plan is prepared in accordance with PHS-EHD and Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board (RWQCB) guidelines for the subsurface investigation of underground storage tanks
(UST) sites.
The purpose of this site assessment is to evaluate the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts to soil and groundwater at the site. This Work Plan provides a description of
the scope of work and procedures to be used in soil probe borings, soil and possible groundwater
sample collection and analysis, and soil boring abandonment.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is located in a business/agricultural area of central Stockton, California, in San Joaquin
County (Figure 1). The property currently is being used as an automotive service station and
formerly was a gasoline station. The site is locate at the intersection of El Dorado Street and
Churchill Street.
2.1. UNDER GROUND STORAGE TANK OPERATION AND REMOVAL
• AGE has researched that three gasoline USTs, dispensers and piping were active on the site
for almost twenty years from the mid 1950s to the late 1970s. Additionally, one waste oil
UST was operational on the site beginning in 1953. The gasoline USTs were removed from
the site in 1974 and the removal was permitted by a representative of the Stockton Fire
Department.
• On 25 September 1998 one small (---125 gallon) underground storage tank (UST), drop tube
line and vent line were removed from the site. Tracking records for waste removed from the
UST should have been supplied to the PHS-EHD in the UST removal report. History of the
UST use, tank tests, product inventory and repairs are not known to AGE.
