The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Well
Destruction Work Plan, dated December 16, 2008, prepared and submitted by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. In the work plan,
AGE proposes to destroy five onsite monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-5) and one
groundwater extraction well (EW-1) by over drilling the boreholes to total depth using eight-inch
or ten-inch diameter hollow-stem augers. The boreholes will be grouted with neat cement, and
groundwater expelled from the wells during the grouting process and soil cuttings generated from
the over-drilling process will be containerized, characterized, and disposed of properly.
The EHD approves the work plan with these conditions. The five monitoring wells may be over
drilled to total depth using eight- or ten-inch-diameter hollow-stem augers; however, the
extraction well must be over drilled to total depth using fifteen-inch hollow-stem augers. Also, a
tremie pipe must be used to backfill the borehole to surface.
The EHD has received a well destruction permit application along with a check for$375, and has
been notified that the fieldwork will take place Monday,, December 22, 2008. Please contact
Vicki McCartney, Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist, at (209) 468-9852, or by
email at vTnccat-tnev_(,.z%s cehd.coni if you have any questions.
