CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The conclusions and recommendations are derived from groundwater sampling
activities at the California Natural Products facility located in Lathrop, California and are
based on the activities conducted during the First Quarter 2012. The following
conclusions are a summary of the notable groundwater characteristics.
5.1 CONCLUSIONS
' 1) During the first quarter 2012, the groundwater flow direction in the vicinity of the
Plant Area was to the south, with a gradient of 0.005 ft/ft. The groundwater flow
direction in the Louise Avenue Application Area was calculated to be towards the
west, with a gradient of 0.008 ft/ft. The groundwater flow direction in the
McKinley Avenue area was estimated to be towards the west and not calculated
due to the new linear orientation of the wells. These findings are generally
consistent with past monitoring events.
2) The groundwater quality in the McKinley Avenue Area was generally consistent
with historical results. The TDS concentrations ranged from 700 to 910 mg/L.
The TDS concentrations were above the recommended SMCL (500 mg/1) in all
McKinley Avenue Area wells sampled. Nitrate as N concentrations were above
the MCL (10 mg/I) in one of the three McKinley area wells (W-5). Total coliform
organisms were detected in two of the three wells (W-4 and W-5) in the McKinley
Avenue Area. Fecal coliform organisms were not detected in any of the wells.
3) The groundwater quality from the Louise Avenue Areas was also generally
consistent with historical results. The concentrations of TDS were above the
SMCL (500mg/1) in four of the six wells. The concentration of nitrate as N was
below the MCL of 10 mg/L in three of the six wells. Total Coliform and Fecal
coliform organisms were not detected in any of the wells.
101486.5/ST012R0385 Page 11 of 14 April 30, 2012
Copyright 2012 Kleinfelder
