KLE/NF a LR RgM1t Et
Bn9Rt Male. So/Woof.
r1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report details the results of the first quarter 2014 groundwater monitoring at the California
Natural Products (CNP) facilities in Lathrop, California. The work was authorized by Mr. Lynn
Forcum of CNP of Lathrop, California. This monitoring report is required by the Central Valley
Region of the State of California Regional Water Quality Control Board's (RWQCB) Revised
Monitoring & Reporting Program No. R5-2003-0141.
Groundwater samples were collected for laboratory analysis during the first quarter of 2014
from three monitoring wells in the McKinley Avenue Rapid Infiltration Area (MARIA), located
south of the CNP plant, and six monitoring wells in the North and South Louise Avenue
Infiltration areas (NLAIA and SLAIA).
Groundwater quality tests indicated that concentrations of pH were within the acceptable
Secondary Maximum Contaminant Level (SMCL) ranges of 6.5 to 8.5 in all wells (7.12 to 7.55).
Ammonia as nitrogen (N) was detected in three of the nine groundwater samples collected with
1 concentrations ranging from 0.11 to 0.23 milligrams per liter (mg/1).
The concentration of total dissolved solids (TDS) ranged from 590 to 1,200 mg/I throughout the
site. The TDS concentrations exceeded the recommended SMCL of 500 mg/I and/or the SMCL
upper level (1,000 mg/1) in all of the nine wells sampled this quarter.
' Nitrate as N concentrations ranged from <1.2 to 32 mg/I across the site. Four of the nine
groundwater samples collected from the site (L-1, L-2, L-3, and W-5) exceeded the nitrate as N
Maximum Containment Level (MCL) of 10 mg/l.
Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) was detected in six of the nine groundwater samples collected
' with concentrations ranging from 0.22 to 0.65 mg/1. There is no RWQCB water quality goal for
TKN.
Neither total nor fecal coliform organisms were detected in the nine groundwater samples
collected at the site.
101486.7/SAC14R0504 Page 1 of 13 April 28, 2014
Copyright 2114 Kleinfelder
